Dr Stephen Griffiths

Dr Griffiths qualified as a Clinical Audiologist in 1998 and spent the following 7 years at various hospitals around the UK gaining experience which culminated in his appointment as Chief Audiologist in 2005.
During this appointment, he specialised in balance disorders and also conducted a access to service improvement program that resulted in a UK Department of Health Award nomination. Following this, he specialised in paediatric Audiology before a further stint travelling around the UK as a locum audiologist, ultimately ending up in the Isle of Man. He was able to use his experiences in the UK to lead the complete restructure of the Islands audiology services starting in 2008 and during which, he was appointed Head of Audiology. His proudest moments were winning the Isle of Man Department of Health top team award in 2011 and reaching the finals of the IOM newspapers awards for excellence in 2017. In November 2023, he was the recipient of the Heroes of Man Caring Arms Inspirational Healthcare Professional Award.
In addition to his normal patient workload, Dr Griffiths is clinically and managerially responsible for the Islands entire Audiology service including the main clinic at Nobles Hospital, Ramsey and Port Erin clinics, the Children’s hearing clinic in Douglas and the Newborn Hearing Screening program.
He holds Fellowships with the British Society of Audiology and the American Academy of Audiology. He is a member of the British Tinnitus association, British Academy of Audiology, the IDA institute, the National Deaf Children’s Society and is registered with AHCS, RCCP and the HCPC regulatory bodies.
Outside of work, he is married with 3 children, 1 cat and a garden to keep him very busy as well as his duties as a volunteer Motorsport Emergency medical technician (Hogg Medical / Rescue) during the majority of the Islands motorsports events.
